>>270170I usually grow smaller vegetables in medium sized pots. Stuff like green onions or garlic. You could plant some vegetables scraps and they'll grow into either flowers or new vegetables. Try carrot tops, sprouting pieces of garlic or just the discard piece of green onion.

>>270171ooh, i like to make carrot top pesto

I'm in the process of hardening off my plants but the last frost date keeps changing
Anonymous 270178
>>270171Regrowing carrot tops is a waste of a season when you can buy seeds cheap as chips.

If you lack space then you could try growing mushrooms

>>270181I spent 2 yrs in the jammer for doing this no problem though back again.

What's your dream garden nonas? I want to create a space that's friendly to wildlife with lots of native plants but also provides food.

>>270274A forest garden, big enough to have at least some fully grown trees creating a small patch of forest. And below the whole ground would be full of ferns, all varieties of ferns, I love ferns.
Anonymous 270574
>>270274A wide range of vegetables, berries and fruit trees. Mushrooms indoors
Anonymous 270586
>>270274I really want a kumquat and dragon fruit tree.
Anonymous 270587
>>270274Spring onions, sugarsnap peas, strawberries, all the tasty stuff which is expensive to buy.

A little patch of every edible plant that can grow in zone 6 is a life goal. Can dream of a subterranean passive ecosystem, full of tropical fruit trees.
I've never heard of anyone successfully growing a palm to maturity with artificial conditions, likely because they need lots of fresh air in their roots to thrive. I believe it's possible with a little magic (and orgonite)
Anonymous 270651
>>270274A lot of berries, fruit trees, bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and potatoes. Maybe even more vegetables, if had remaining free land. I want to grow stuff that I can actually use. Too bad, I don't own any land, but if I would…

Finally buying a place with a garden so I can start collecting roses.

>>322778Unironically for me it's the Datura, also known as the Devil's Trumpet. I know it's dangerous to have around because it's so poisonous, but it has some personal significance to me. I survived a delirium at 8 years old and the Datura trip anecdotes I've read feel quite similar to what I experienced. It's kinda symbolic.
Anonymous 322782
>>322781Oh wow, I've heard about those but I'm scared of the toxicity. Is it something you would grow?
Anonymous 322784
>>322782Apparently it's something some people grow considering how every now and then someone's kid accidentally gets poisoned in their garden.
Perhaps I would love to grow those but I'd want to make sure nobody accidentally touches it or anything.

>>322784Yikes man they sound so cool though. I think I've seen one before and couldn't believe how large the flowers were, they glowed in the dusk.
Are there any other flowers you like? I'd really like to grow more Sweet Peas next year.

>>322781>>322784NTA but I've grown them (and other similar plants, like morning glories) and they're so fun and grow so fast. I let them climb the string lights outside of my windows and they're dreamy. I keep them with my herbs and edible plants and never had issues. But if you have cats I recommend against it. The only blooming vines I found that are remotely similar to the cuteness and speediness of morning glories are cathedral bells (picrel).

God I wish I had a beautiful garden to hang out at
It’s a good thing I don’t though I would be horrible at maintaining it

I actually start to wonder if I should try growing some species of mint by my window. I love mint tea but when I buy it it goes bad too fast.
Anonymous 324382
>>324379Your garden wouldn't necessarily have to be that large in scale. I think a smaller home garden could still look beautiful and take up less space while requiring less maintenance as well
Anonymous 324385
Is there anything worth planting in June? I want to get into gardening but dont know where to start.
Anonymous 324394
>>324385I think it would depend on the kind of garden you're thinking about. You can grow certain stuff year round if it's an indoor greenhouse type garden
Anonymous 324427
>>324394I wanted to plant flowers like roses and sunflowers. Probably too late for that this year. Maybe I should make a calendar alert for next year
Anonymous 324450
I bought seeds of four different flowers for my balcony. I picked flowers based on what attracts pollinators the most so hopefully I'll see bees butterflies and birds coming to here often. Other than that I like to grow things I guess, it gives me sense of power and pride

is talking to plants a meme or
>In a Mythbusters experiment involving seven plants — two received positive speech, two received negative speech, one listened to classical music, another to death metal and the last was left in silence — the plant left in silence fared the worst. Surprisingly, the one to flourish the most was the death metal plant.

Early crop of bell peppers were hit with a cold snap… flowers all fell off but the established fruit is still growing ok. I'm all container this year and tomato plants and green onions are happy happy. Radishes were too leafy and not enough root so I might try again this fall. Bok Choy went to seed and bolted early so not as much food this spring as last year.

>>324536Had the same problem with cucumber in the past. Vining plants can get insane.
