Do you think contraceptives will be outlawed in the United States? Anonymous 273241

There's a lot of talk about this rn and I don't know how much is fearmongering and how much is justified panic. Project 2025 is scary but it sounds like at least condoms will still be allowed. How far will they take it? I feel like we'll always have some form of contraception because if we didn't, scrotes couldn't appease their desire for sexual conquest.

Anonymous 273243

Contraceptives are for avoiding reproduction, but aren't doing anything for avoiding transmission of diseases
That's why both condoms and pills are needed

The government has been doing nothing but stupid decisions that make people hate them for the past 8 years, so it wouldn't surprise me if this got passed but all it would mean is black markets for birth control being formed in red states because no chance blue states abide by a ban even if it were federal.

The argument is that the right is going to ignore health consequences and choose to see contraceptives as a method of abortion rather than protection from diseases. They've already outlawed abortion in some states despite abortion being manditory healthcare for some women.

Anonymous 273252

I would've said overturning Roe v Wade was impossible and anyone who suggested it was fearmongering, but then it happened. It's now entirely possible that some cabal will proactively work to ban contraceptives, but it's almost impossible they'd be able to enforce it in any meaningful way.

I think this is where I stand now too. Men simply feel too entitled to our bodies to abstain from sex.

If you don't want to get pregnant then just don't have sex.
>But I DESERVE to have as much unprotected sex as I want! You HAVE to spend taxpayer money to accommodate my desires!

You are not entitled to sex ;)

not a sex haver so idfk but that doesn’t make sense to me. If you buy a contraceptive, is it not your own money not taxes? At least in the US, you are paying for your own health insurance most of the time (or through your work). Government should just stay out of business like that (gays included why do we need a specific laws legislating that???). Or pushing trans shit. They need to stop fucking around with people and medical care stuff its none if their business. I could see if we were Euros and had government healthcare for everyone but we have to pay for our own shit AND have them tell us what to do? No sense…

It's not really a moral question so much as a practical one. Does the cost of free contraception outweigh the cost of the inevitable unwanted kids.

You can scream until you're blue in the fact about how people shouldn't be doing that, and I'd agree with you, but if your solution to a problem is just "grr people should be better than they are. they should just-" then you don't have a solution.

> free contraception
It’s not free… In the US, my employer takes money out of my cheque for my health insurance… making it none of the government’s business tbh… like I said, I could see the reasoning behind a contraceptive ban if the government was actually providing health care and contraceptive products FOR us but if it is my own money, literally fuck off…

sorry nona, we actually agree. I meant to only respond to the other person.

Doesn't the government want more kids? So in their case would it matter if kids were wanted or not as long as they have more people for their ponzi scheme

>”But I DESERVE to have as much unprotected sex as I want!”
> the discussion is about contraceptives (aka protection)

I seriously don’t know what we’re gonna do. I don’t wanna live in a country with no abortion, divorce, or birth control. I don’t wanna live in a country where spousal rape is legal, where 12 year old girls can be forced to marry their evangelist pastor, or where I can’t go outside without a man. If Trump wins I’m probably just going to kms. If this is how easy it is for us to lose the microscopic bullshit level of progress women have won over the entirety of human existence then I just don’t want to live.

Would you try immigrating somewhere else? I'm already looking at work visas…

Anonymous 273321

Stop doomposting, abortion and birth control are completely different things. A lot of countries ban abortions in 99% of the cases, but few, if any, ban birth control.
