living alone vs living with others Anonymous 309168
have you had the opportunity to live alone?
what kind of roommates have you experienced? who has been the best? the worst?
what living situation do you like best of all?
I had the wonderful opportunity to live alone for the past 6 months, it was bliss, but i fell into bad habits. I have a roommate now, she just moved in this past week. wow its such a great change, because she is so nice, thoughtful, clean, it motivates me to be clean too…I've lived with moids in the past, roommates and boyfriends, but of course platonic women are always the best to live with, as long as they are a similar speed to myself.

I lived alone for my senior year in college. One bedroom apt, gas and water included. I miss those days. That was my happiest year.

I've never had the opportunity, but I really want to. Sometimes I research prices for apartments to rent and important items for a house, everything is very expensive of course, that's why I haven't gone yet.

>>309168I'm 30 and still live with my mom with her controlling absolutely everything, from finances to where I go and when, haha

I haven’t, I really wish I could experience it. I have two roommates and as lovely as they are, I’m majorly autistic and get overstimulated so easily. I feel like I would fall into bad habits if I was alone, though.

>>309168If you live alone, enjoy it the best you can. I was kicked out soon after I turned 18 and I lived alone for the first few years before I met my husband. The freedom was nice but I was kinda poor and lived in a shitty place at the time and that made it so not worth it. Maybe it would've felt better in a different situation. Thankfully I'm in a much nicer place now. Since we've been living together we've rarely spent a day or more apart but our schedules are kind of different so I get just a few hours each day alone. While I prefer having someone around to help with stuff and of course having more money, maybe this is selfish but tbh I wish I could have more alone time than I get. I love him but he is like a constantly active person always making noise and doing annoying distracting things while I usually am just trying my best to chill out and focus on something. Dude can't even be still or quiet when he is asleep. Also I enjoy the feeling of pure freedom being able to watch, listen to, or do whatever weird stuff I want without judgement. This is a tiny apartment and there is like no privacy. I wouldn't give up my relationship for anything but I wouldn't mind a day out of every week being by myself if it were an option.

My roommates all cancelled their rental agreements early and I lived alone for 4 months. It was terrifying and lonely. I ended up renting from a guy who had just bought the house and wanted a roommate to help pay the bills. It's nice and he lets me decorate things how I want. We take turns watering the yard, where I can plant whatever I want, and he grows hydroponic vegetables, which is nice. It's kind of like having a live-in celibate boyfriend, because we cook and eat together, watch tv/movies together, carpool together and now share the same friends, so we go out with them together.

I usually preferred to live alone but I like living with my husband because he's understanding to my need for quiet and calm. Other than that, every other living situation I've had was hell.
