I agree they're good at archiving screenshots but you have to sift through so much bullshit to get to it, plus that doesn't really redeem them imo, 4Chan and Lolcow have good archives a lot of the time but they both get on my nerves. The attachment system also sucks because there were time where I would post screenshots and it would just say "view attachment 123456" and then you clicked on it and it would say "this file is unavailable", I saw that happen to a lot of other users, hopefully it's fixed now

I just wonder, are these specific communities that bother you? Some of the threads I found were quite funny or relatively insightful(Sanctioned suicide, DesmondisAmazing, some you only come in for the backstory of the person), but others were more like a burning trashcan (threads on certain communities and certain people). Like it seems the quality of the discussion depends on the subject. Likewise I don't like Lolcow either because the people they obsess over aren't that interesting, or they fail to make them seem such.

I used to post extensively on KF because I came there from being fed up with all the gendie shit on Tumblr, back when Meowthkip was an admin on the Tumblr board. The culture definitely changed over the years, there used to be a significant female userbase and the posts were a lot less petty, too. My favorite thread was PurpleKecleon's because she was an artist i used to look up to when I was younger, kek. But there seemed to be more restrictions on who qualified as a lolcow, and what you could do to them. I remember there being a stigma against doxxing family members and minors. Now, people will search up someone's parents and siblings and shit for no reason.

The milk kind of sucks, too. A lot of the threads just come off to me as vendettaposting and basically "erhm this person draws art I don't like soooo they're a lolcow uwu". It's so damn boring. Back then, a lolcow was someone who scammed or did really scummy shit, like fuck dogs or something. Now, it's just "people I don't like". I still browse KF from time-to-time because there's occasionally a few good guides there. I just wish there was something like KF without the lolcow posting, because I have a feeling all of the gossip and shit really brought down the IQ of the userbase as the years went by. Not to say that KF was the smartest place per se, but it felt a lot easier to have a conversation about something back in 2017-2018.

KF got DDOSed recently. Why the hell do people use sites like this that can get you in legal trouble in some places without using VPNs

Because they're on a gossip website. A website that used to be about documenting extremely curious people for the sake of entertainment, but has naturally succumbed to the gossip cancer.
People gossip to feel better about themselves by putting someone else down. Even when the person, by all means, deserves to be ridiculed, doing so frequently doesn't make you any more stable mentally. It's a dark pattern that they subconsciously perceive as therapeutic.
Eventually, the original purpose faded away, and now it's just a bunch of sad pathetic failures desperately climbing to their favorite Internet flagellation ritual. There doesn't have to be a reason to do so. The act is being performed for the sake of itself.

Try looking up post counts for some of the most prominent posters and dividing them by the days they've been registered. You'll find out that a whole lot of them leave dozens of posts every single day for years on end. They are just as mentally ill and dysfunctional as people they so vehemently criticize.

It's because this site and Lolcow.Farm share a user base and Lolcow largely gossips the same way that KiwiFarms does. The difference though is that KF goes way too far. It's one thing to discuss internet drama it's another thing to dox random people for breathing the same air as the subject of a thread. Chris Chan was insane before KF existed though to be fair.
