I want a pet rat so bad Anonymous 318517

I am so sad I'm not able to get one. It makes me emotional. I am neet and poor as a result so I can't afford to own any animals really. But I really fucking want a pet rat. They are so cute. My only cope is watching YouTubers that own them so I can live vicariously through that. I am also learning as much as I can about them and I can't stop. I so badly want a pet rat and a pet pigeon. Oh my god, it's my dream to own a pigeon too. This is genuinely my only motivation in finding employment right now.

Rats are basically free, i got mine from a kid at school playground in exchange for a tamagotchi or something, but in retrospect, i probably could have have gotten it for some gum. Kids are dumb, if you have a bunch of rats you can barter with other kids for whatever toys their rich parents are buying them.
Pro tip: don't trade mature rats and don't give them greasy food.

kek funny story, Im guessing schools didn't allow animals so how did the kid even bring a rat to school? I remember I tried to do something similar where I tried bringing my cat but got stopped almost immediately lmao
>i got mine from a kid at school playground in exchange for a tamagotchi or something, but in retrospect,
also you should have gotten at least 2 rats for a tamagotchi!

This reminds me of this video I saw of a woman that found a shrew in Walmart and she kept it as a pet. This is something I would 100% do if I wasn't scared of getting the bubonic plague. Imagne being the first person in like 100 years in America to bring the plague back lel

>how did the kid even bring a rat to school?
It was during summer break, school building was closed, but anyone could access play ground/sports field.
>you should have gotten at least 2 rats for a tamagotchi!
Objectively i got swindled, but didn't felt that way, i still don't years later, because that rat was a real treasure, great personality, brave, never bit humans, would come back after venturing outdoors.

It might look a little weird from am outsider perspective if you're at the playground with your child and see some grown adult trying to trade off your childs rats lol

I want either a rat or a mouse as a pet, I've been so tempted to get one but I have four cats :/ rats are so precious I hope everyone in this thread gets a rat

Guinea pig is the only common and accepted type of pet rodent. That being said if I lived in a house with large backyard and it was not illegal I would probably try to have pet capybara.

I am going to try my best to give you some copium. They require constant maintenance, expensive food and treats tailored specifically for them, and they don't live long. I don't regret having pet rats but I will not be getting more as it's heartbreaking given their short lives and how suddenly things tend to come on like illnesses. The males stink REALLY BAD unless you clean their cage every single day, god forbid you're sensitive to smells. The female rats nest heavily and constantly so whatever you put in their cage WILL BE DESTROYED in no time. It has been cheaper to have a dog unironically and just as fulfilling.
