The way the question is presented is misleading and gives the false impression that pressing the red button makes you a potential murderer.
Here's an alternative phrasing that does not change the function of the "dilemma" at all:

If you press the red button, nothing will happen to you.
If you press the blue button, you will die unless at least 50% of the voters also pressed the blue button.

I think in societies with more traditional values and higher social trust most people would choose blue whereas in Western countries most people would choose red

Everyone who wishes guaranteed survival could simply press red, those who would press blue would be risking their lives for no reason whatsoever. Additionally I would hope that amount of blue button pressers does not reach 50% ,because that would grant the surviving population a benefit of filtering out people who increase suffering in the world by making shortsighted, emotional decisions. I think that pressing red would be a morally superior choice.

its a "private" vote, meaning that no one can watch over or interfere with anyone elses vote. there are people out there that have mental or physical disabilities and just cant understand whats at stake, not to mention children. a significant amount of people will accidentally press the red button and tragically die

on the other hand though, if you believe in euthanasia having the option to press the red button is for the best


realistically if the red button is pressed more everyone compassionate and thinking out for the best
of those who cant think for themselves will die (this will obviously be bad for society in the aftermath)
