I've never really given it all that much thought because it's such a boring topic but I imagine if all forms of sex work were outlawed there'd be a lot more rapes or just violent crime in general. So overall I think it basically has to be tolerated to some extent. I can't imagine why anyone would call it liberating after hearing all the stories from current and former sex workers who've been disowned by their families and can't find a single person to date, etc. I wonder how severe the disparity between men and women in the sex industry is with regard to the social backlash. I'd imagine it's a lot less severe for men if only because they're not usually the ones with their faces on camera.
