Lore Writeup of my Kill Team: Murderwing! Anonymous 327105
(For the miniatures I had previously shown, pic is mostly unrelated but it is the image of the Kill Team used on the online Games Workshop Store)
Background
These guys were Deathwatch Space Marines, until they turned to chaos to complete a mission against a world conquered by the T’Au. They took advantage of the scattered chaos cults hidden within the populace for their own ends, and it ended up branding them as heretics. Now, they hunt aliens on their own terms, though they aren’t opposed to snatching the occasional bit of loot from under the noses of their former allies.
Chaos Lord — Bill The Butcher (Mortifactor)
Bill the Butcher was named as such due to using distraction, terror, and chaos to outmaneuver his foes, allowing him to kill them. Eventually, he rose through the ranks enough to be considered for the honor of the Deathwatch. Bill thought he’d hate his nosier, less grim comrades. But he loved it, allowing it to affect him and developing a gallows sense of humor and a cruel, authoritative posture. He was always one to use any advantage in a fight, to the eventual disgust of his superiors, and his fate was ultimately sealed when he used the ultimate forbidden weapon against a T’Au bastion: the support of a hidden Chaos Cult. Choosing a life on the run over summary execution, he took his boys and fled to do as he pleased.
Champion — Betamar (Alpha Legion)
Betamar had been separated from his warband for some time before noticing Bill and his Boys on a mission. He quickly became fixated on them, impressed with their deeds, stalking them and the moves they made. After they fell to chaos, Betamar revealed himself, claiming to be Alpharius and that he had manipulated them into their descent to chaos, and now he was here to induct them into the Alpha Legion. Bill laughed, the two had a duel, and Betamar got his ass beat. However, Bill spared Betamar and inducted him into their group as the sixth member, valuing his bold nature and familiarity with the ways of chaos.
Shrieker — Del Gringo (Blackshield)
Del Gringo had faced off against the forces of Slaanesh before… and he liked it, a lot. He found that even if they were enemies, it was a respite from the fanaticism of his chapter. He was always a little strange like that, seeing the romance in the horrific. Eventually, he became a bit too suspicious to ignore in his Chapter, and was sent to the Deathwatch to brush underneath the rug. There, in the chaos of their organization, he felt at home for the first time. He especially fell in love with the companionship of Butcher and the crew. But he knew that eventually they would be disbanded, as per typical practice. He didn’t want their friendship to ever end, so he was a driving force in pressuring the boys to run away to fight aliens however they’d like… forever.
Curseclaw — Meshuggah (Raptors)
Meshuggah was discovered as a feral child by the Raptors, and snatched to become a neophyte of the chapter. Even though he lacks remembrance of his past, he has always felt a sense of detachment from the fellowship of Space Marines, seeing himself as a solitary predator. This made him an excellent lone operative, a Lieutenant with a Combi-Weapon. He gladly accepted the chance to join the Deathwatch, but the further isolation from his chapter led to him spiraling away from any sense of identity. The fall of his Kill Team ultimately drove him over the edge, pushing him to lose himself in the slavering beast he had become.
Skysear — Russell (Storm Giants)
In his original Chapter, Russell would occasionally hear whispers in the din of battle, ordering him to do this or that. Sometimes he listened. Sometimes it helped him out. But his sudden firings were taken as insubordination by his superiors, and he was sent off to the Deathwatch to straighten him out. The hard feelings towards the assignment and the whispers in his head were ultimately what led to his defection to Chaos, rather than true love of the game.
Huntmaster — Graham “Mountain Man” McCleary (Space Wolves)
Mike is a pretty old dog, and was inducted into the Deathwatch for his wily cunning and aces up his sleeve. However, this age also led to his mind becoming softer in other aspects, such as his resilience against the path of least resistance, and so that led to him being vulnerable to the temptations of Chaos.
