I am addicted to doomscrolling and it’s ruining my life. The misogyny and beauty standards online are so vitriolic right now; it affects me deeply so I should just unplug right? yet I’m more online than ever. I scroll for hours a day. I don’t think I’ve ever known a life offline. I get rage baited SO easily, always had anger issues I had to repress…I can’t help but interact, so of course I see it more and more. I even made a pathetic fake account just to go to war in comment sections. I guess I feel I’m not allowed to be angry irl so many I turn to online discourse as an outlet. But Is the world ACTUALLY this stupid and misogynistic right now, or is the awful algorithm I curated only making it seem that way? Is anybody else as stupid as me doing this? Fuck my loser hiplet life

Anonymous 330231

Yes doomscrolling is very bad, it's made specifically to bait you and to get you addicted.
And no it's not only on your side of the issue, I think plenty of people see it from their side of the issue too, it depends mostly on the spaces you frequent.
Beauty standards on the internet are all pumped up, Instagram celebs and influencers ruined it.
>Hiplet
please don't let this shit that andrew tatedick sucker fags say bother you, it's literally retarded and gay lol

The more you engage with it the more you see it. Clicking on content like that is guaranteeing you will see more. So no its not, its just how the algorithm gets you to come back and spend more time. I felt this way in the early 2000s, but it wasn't nearly as bad as now. So glad i came up then and didn't experience nearly as much as you do. I had the same kind of phase.

Unplugging doesn't work. I've tried it many times.

If I block reddit, I'll find 4chan or something else. If I block 4chan, I'll just find twitter. If I block twitter, I'll just find some random forum or mastodon or something instead.

I don't have an answer but just saying that unplugging doesn't work. It has ruined my life too.

I got banned from twxttxr for posting 'MIGA', good thing it was a waste of time

Who cares, when a place begins to bore me I post bannable shit, great way to stop wasting time on trash

Anonymous 330251

Social media is how I stay in touch with so many old friends. I just wish there was just a way to disable the algo driven infinite scrolling feature on these apps, or even just comment sections. Everything is convergently evolving into TikTok it’s so retarfed

I have a SECOND fake acct to agree with my other fake account LMAO

Anonymous 331958

Doomscrolling is like smoking cigarettes with your brain. I hope the younger generations realize how bad it is for you.

Anonymous 331986

im sorry if this sounds cruel but you're just succumbing to be a waste, you have nothing interesting in your life and you probably just endlessly scroll for hours watching people make money and are better than you, no one is gonna remember you no one is gonna think of that person who doomscrolled the most, instead you'll get laughed at even if some relate to the same thing. The world isnt as bad as the curated algorithim INTENSEIFYING it. go fucking touch grass delete all social media for one week and see how mentally aware you become.

Anonymous 332017

Not the op nona but it's really, really hard to do anything outside nowadays. Sure I hang out with friends on weekends sometimes and occasionally go for a walk, but even when i'm in clubs i've noticed that more and more people go there just to snap a few pictures to post on Insta and then spend the evening on their phones. Like sure, I can try to do more irl stuff and spend less time rotting away, but most people aren't even aware of what's happening to them in the first place.

Anonymous 332052

>>331986
What's the point of being mentally aware? Being mentally aware only leads to anxiety over things you're unable to control, and touching grass leaves you open to acts of random violence. Even you are trying to motivate through the violent acts of shaming and threatening to label nona as the target of public ridicule over something insignificant. Normies act like that and then act surprised why would anyone choose doomscrolling while they fail to notice as they doomscroll more and more in an attempt to raise even more public shame and outrage, all for the sake of what they designated as the good cause.

Anonymous 332054

>>332052
….And doom scrolling doesn't give you anxiety…?

Anonymous 332058

>>332054
No, it actually mutes it.

Anonymous 332069

have you tried being more attractive?

Anonymous 332305

I relate to this so much, social media is ruining my mental health but I don't want to unplug because then I'll lose my online friends.

Anonymous 333181

have you considered making a youtube channel? ive been kinda lonely and almost never get a reply on my comments, but thought maybe making a channel would be a good way to engage with others or at least get replies. you might be in the same boat.

Anonymous 333194

You need actual friends(female) and hobbies

Anonymous 333314

>>330238
Yeah that's because you're not actually unplugging. Unplugging is shutting down your laptop, leaving your phone at home (or even better, getting a dumb phone) and going outisde. Blocking random sites isn't "unplugging".

The answer to everyone's problems in this thread is literally just to get IRL friends and start doing IRL things.

Anonymous 333405

>>332305
Online friend is an oxymoron. It's like having a long distance relationship.

Anonymous 333442

I have some ideas to reduce doomscrolling
- When you notice you're spending more than 2 hours on your phone consecutively, take an immediate break and go walking around the block
- Use a computer/laptop to browse the net instead of the phone when possible
- Get into exercising a little bit more twice a week, even 20 minutes twice a week is good
