What are some jobs that tend to be more accessible for unattractive women? Just curious what some of you do for work, or what jobs you’ve seen women in my situation tend to do. I find working difficult when you’re unattractive, and I’ve had long bouts of unemployment. I’ve actually found some success working on tollways.

I do pest control and while I might be considered "cute" by some people I am certainly not "conventionally attractive" by any means and it's really cool having a job that doesn't require makeup and it's acceptable to be sweaty and dirty.

im an engineer, which I enjoy , but i feel like I have to work twice as hard as my male coworkers. engineering in general is still a boys club.

what kind of engineer? i work in [stressful career] and i feel like ill get burnt out well before my working years are over. id consider going back to school for a job that doesn't involve constant human interaction, but for debt reasons i cant until im 40. software engineering is probably totally unrealistic given how bad the job market is for far more competitive people. the other kinds of engineering though sound more achievable. i dont love math, but i could enjoy anything where i make the same amount of money as i do currently and dont have to deal with what i deal with now eg being called a bitch, told to kms, threatened with legal action, sexually inappropriate behavior, etc etc

electrical engineer. obviously math is important in engineering school. once you get out of school, it is important as a foundation to know what your programs are doing mathematically, but I rarely have to hand calculate anything.

as far as abuse, I work with a lot of blue collar types and good ol boys. I guess they know not to harass the couple of women that visit their plant, since that has never happened to me. I'm also not traditionally pretty, so maybe that's helps

I'm also in healthcare though not a doctor. Generally I feel like in this field not being super attractive can be seen as a sign of competence at least by older coworkers (which is still wrong, but works for me)
