Domestic abuse ruined my life Anonymous 132882
venting here because i am too pussy to pay for a therapist.
but basically, my history with abuse, verbally and physical is something too complicated to talk about to a another person (a professional), so basically, ever since i was a kid i was screamed at, beat, bullied, laughed at ridiculed, and most of it were classmates but 80% of it was familiar.
through the ages of 5 to 16 years old i was treated with so much hate that i wondered if i even deserved to be alive and function as a human being other than a creature to be the peoples pain reliever.
one day when i got back from school, i was around eight years old, i had written "fuck" in my book, a very idiotic kid behavior when you first discover insults and bad words, my sister was cleaning my room that day and opened the book and saw it, then showed it to my mom, that day she hit me so bad and jumped me that i was scarred for life. she would beat so badly i dont think its even allowed to mention here but anyway, after that day i became scared and so fragile i couldnt make human contact, other than the physical abuse, my sisters would call me such disgusting names and scream so much at me that any tone of voice would make me uncomfortable, what seven, ten, fourteen year old me did that was so terrible? i was never one to pick any bad habits, i did start smoking at very early age but i was still antissocial and alone.
i grew to be a very sad and anxious teen after everything, still being treated like garbage, but there was one particular moment that really changed me (for the worst), my brother had turned the same age i was when i suffered all those things, and he is too "weird" and closed off, and autistic, he didnt talk much and he liked some weird stuff, but he is very mad? and agressive, he used to jump at me, beat me, call me names like whore, slut and tell me to kill myself, but in one day in particular while he was at school (we live close to the school he goes) we got a call from the principal telling my mom that "her son jumped at the teacher and strangled her", the cops were called and all my sisters went there to see the situation, after he got home, the treatment he got after that was "one week without his computer", thats all. when i was his age the simple word "fuck" in my book was enough to have my mom kneel down on my chest and beat me till i was unconcious, but he got sweet words and "just dont do that, okay?", seeing that happen radicalized me in a hardcore way.
eight year old to sixteen year old me was so brutalized in every way possible for simply being but him being a potential threat to everyone around is simply brushed off, not to mention the times he would beat me and i was forced to apologize so "he wouldnt feel bad".
and now, i am a closed off radical adult who lives like a neet and doesnt trust anyone, any sign of romantic or attraction towards me disgusts me and i feel like a failure. is there any way to grow better after everything? can i live normally knowing my soul have been poisoned by actions like that? i just wish i never went through that that now i have to worry and feel disgusted by my myself everyday. fellow sisters, use this post as you may like, vent, read it and pass, just sharing unfortunate events in my life.

>>132882This was awful to read and I hope you're in a safer environment now. Life is often unfair but you don't have to let your past determine the rest of your life. I hope you can come to terms with your past and find peace some day.

Same, I guess the only thing left to do is to learn from it and not to repeat those behaviours
I've given up on having a close relationship cause I have trust issues and it's too much for me, I had a dream a week ago of being in a relationship again and it felt soul crushing, everything in the dream was gray and somber
People who come from a loving family who were raised with kindness are from a different planet, I'd bet it's actually rare but I've met kind people, it's important to treat them well, having wholesome people in your life is healthy

>>132885It's easy to be mean. It's easy to hurt others especially when you've been hurt yourself. It takes a great strength to instead be kind when you've only known pain. I hope one day you'll know such strength. It's within you if you search for it.

>>132882I'm so sorry for the way you were brought up. Your family are terrible people. I hope you can find a way to heal and break the cycle.

>>132886Thanks, I chose to follow a vegetarian diet five years ago because I wanted to move away from that predatory kind of living, and I couldn't pretend to live in ignorance of the cruelty that animals have to endure. As well as I wanted to have mutually beneficial relationships in my life, it's possible for humans to live in a mutually beneficial way with nature imo

>>132888I was going to write a rather long winded response to this but I think it could be concisely put to a question. Does our capacity as humans to act in opposition to our natural instincts burden us with the responsibility to do so? If so, I can only wonder to what extent we should adhere to such a burden of responsibility and how arbitrarily such lines would be drawn.

>>132891Imo it is actually unnatural for humans to be cruel, so it is not in human nature to be predatory to begin with
These dark behaviors, like daemons get transfered through cruel treatments. People might actually think that it makes them powerful to be violent and cruel

I suppose if I could lift a car and I happened to be in the vicinity of a car accident in which a child was stuck under a vehicle, onlookers would expect me to lift the vehicle and would consider me cruel for not doing so. In that way I suppose one could argue with great power comes great responsibility and thus humanity does shoulder the burden of morality though that does still leave the obvious question of what is morally right and this I'm afraid is rather subjective…hmm…

>>132892Do you suppose we began hunting as a species to project strength to other humans?

>>132893I wonder if intent would be a more reasonable way by which to determine if actions are moral or immoral. The obvious issue being intent is rather difficult to surmise…

Anyway sorry for taking the thread on a philosophical tangent. I'll ponder these questions on my own time.

>is there any way to grow better after everything?
Yes. Better. From -178 to -34.
>can i live normally knowing my soul have been poisoned by actions like that?
No. But you can be better.

>>132893If I could be permitted one more post to clear up some errors in logic with this scenario. The impetus for the action of lifting the vehicle off the child being the judgement of the onlookers frames the morality of this action as subjective as it's dependent on the judgement of said onlookers. Thus I don't believe such an argument could be used to support the burden of morality objectively. That isn't to say some other argument couldn't be used to support it but I'll leave that to another thread. As for this post
>>132895 it would seem assigning moral value to intent is merely "passing the buck" as it were. You'd still arbitrarily be assigning moral value to the intent behind the actions. In any case, I do want to make it clear that while I do reject the notion of an objective morality, I do acknowledge the existence of a universal morality as it exists today though I also acknowledge that such a universal morality is likely to change with time as its nature is ultimately subjective.
