Can you do a handstand? I'm trying teach myself but progress is slow.

Anonymous 21651

With the support of a wall…does that count?

yes, that's how you learn where to position your legs. I am currently doing the same

Oh wow…I have never tried to do it independently but I can move with the help of a wall

Do you face the wall or face away from the wall? I can climb up the wall and do a handstand facing the wall. Now I'm trying to kick up to the wall to do it correctly facing away from the wall. The forward motion scares me so I'm trying to overcome my fear while building strength

This is how I do it. I have never left the support of wall because I'm scared haha and I do it on tiles for some reason so I'm scared my hands will slip

That's how I can do it now, too. But I'm trying to do it facing the other way so I can eventually kick up without help of the wall.

What does your routine look like? I workout everyday push ups, pull ups and sprints

I practice 5 days a week. Mostly pushups and planks for warm-up. Then handstand practice.

have you tried the convict condition routine for handstands? It becomes a bit of a cakewalk combined with shoulder/tricep workout

I googled convict condition routine handstand but didn't really find anything. I'm making progress, but I think I'm limited by strength.

Its a book called Convict Conditioning by Paul Wade. It gives you a progression plan to do handstand pushups, but since you just want to do handstands I guess it helps too. It discusses how to develop balance so that you can do them away from a wall and eventually do free handstand push ups. If strength is a problem you could always do pike pushups to get the feel of manipulating your weight through you shoulders and triceps
