What has been your worst hair salon experience?

I wanted ash-blonde color hair. Showed pictures. Ended up with purple hair. I hated it. In retrospect I should've just enjoyed the ride.

Someone's going to think this is stupid but whatever.
It was a totally decent cut & color, but when talking about restaurants she made a joke about spitting in people's food in a way that gave me such an icky vibe about who she was as a person.

>>21884When I was 16 I wanted to have orange hair, mine was really long and voluminous but instead of telling me it'd be impossible or that it'd take many sessions, they decided to do it all in one go. They started bleaching it from the top but by the time they got to the tips my scalp was fucking burning, like it was legit smoking. They rinsed it and then finished she process but for like the next 5-ish years, maybe more, that area of my scalp (back of my head) would feel gooey and my hair would grow as if perpetually humid.

>>22004Did you at least like the orange hair?

They lie to you about the prices.

>>21884I went to check out some hair salons, saw the prices, noticed that they'd charge me more for being a woman, then I left and asked one of my friends to cut my hair instead. She did a good job.
I later found a salon that has equal pricing, no further problems.

Decided to try out this fancy hair salon (on my ex's dime thankfully). Omg was it a waste of money.
The guy didn't spend any time to know what I actually wanted so he got it totally wrong. I wanted multi-colour hair but he just picked one random colour out of the hair samples I showed him without communication and I didn't realise until it was too late. A very awful bright pink that looked horrendous on me. Out of all the colours he picked the worst if he was going to choose to give me one colour. He also fried the shit out of my hair when he bleached it to then put on the pink (it was like he'd never worked with semi dark hair, he basically tried turning it white before adding the colour) and that hair colour was the scourge of my hair dye adventures for the next 5 or so years until I could cut all of it off. And it turned out to be one of those shitty expensive salons that make you pay extra/buy a slot for a basic dry off after the dye but they didn't make it clear beforehand nor let you add a blowout afterwards. I was practically in tears when he shoved me out the door with wet trashy pink dangerhair. A random woman outside could tell my sorrow and tried cheering me up but honestly it looked so crap.
Thankfully within the next months I found my dream hairdresser and I followed her across town whenever she changed stores. She and I clicked so well and she actually spent the time to know what I wanted and would work with the shitty former dye (it mixed harshly with new colours) to make it look good and best of all, she made sure to pick colours and dyes which faded out well. She also perfected giving me a "melt" hairstyle as she called it which left my roots intact and the new colours looked like they melted out of my hair so the roots came in nicely and I didn't have to come get it fixed every few weeks. She was also at one of the cheapest spots in town at the start which meant my crazy hairstyles would come out to be under 200$ for like 6+ hours of work.
Honestly after that I refuse to see hoity toity gays for my hair. Give me a plump mom or lesbian who loves to work with hair any day. It has never led me wrong since then. They also go nuts if you have a crazy idea, they actually love it vs begrudgingly doing their job
