not personally (dont like wearing nails myself), but i think they're really pretty. i like watching videos of people making press ons and all the pretty things they add to them.

Those nails are so pretty. I want them. I want to have acrylic nails but I don't have the money for it. Did press-room for a while but they came off a lot and I'm not supposed to have over the top nails at work. I like painting my nails but my boyfriend hates the smell and chemicals. So now I just keep my nails super short for cleanliness. It sucks. Nails were one of the few things I got complimented on.

my profession doesn't allow for any kind of long or fancy nails but since I've been unemployed since graduation I've been wearing cheap press-ons as much as I can. I love the super sharp claw-like ones and coffin shape styles. I want to get something like pic related done with my old nail tech soon

It's a bit like having extended fingers, you are still able to do almost anything ir you learn how to work around. I find it easier to type and use my phone with them actually, i find them more practical.

And no i never had shit come in contact with them, you can wipe just fine.

Not for me.

I can’t stand having long nails. I’ve put fake nails on other girls before and tried to put it on myself once. They weren’t even that long but as a lifelong nail biter I immediately got annoyed with the tapping and ended up chewing them off like a coyote chews off their leg when caught in a trap. I think they look quite nice, especially in a bold solid color or a subtle pattern, but I can’t have long nails.

Long, ornate nails are pretty but seem like a pain in the ass for keeping up maintenance. Wearing something like that pic 24/7 would be hellishly inconvenient.

I would like to get something short, simple and cute like this but i dont think that i want to maintain them. Id have to have them filled in every month, ugh. Also my nails are very brittle and thin so im afraid of them getting destroyed and breaking and falling off or something.

that polygel is so thick. i don't understand the thickness of many acrylics or polygel nails. people need to calm down with this stuff. that's a cute manicure though. you can use polygel yourself, it's very easy. if you don't want to mess with that (honestly if you can grow yourself nice nails, why bother with the artificial stuff?) you can always use nailtiques, it's amazing.

I used to do my nails at home at least twice a week. People at school would always ask me to do for it them too. I was also involved in the nail polish community online. However over time I got tired of the smell of polish and getting angry when my designs would get messed up (like while sleeping) so I don't paint my nails anymore. I've never been to a salon before but I think it'd be cool to go once and get nails like in the OP.

I agree. They look so bulky and unattractive. I feel like its completely unnecessary to make them this thick, especially if they arent even extremely long. And yeah, i was thinking about trying it out myself. I firmly believe that im more competent than the majority of nail techs. I do wish i could grow my natural nails out tho. Unfortunately, they literally shed. It sucks.

try nailtiques, anon. it's incredible. i also have naturally thinner nails but nailtiques gives me those thick as hell unbreakable nails. it's a strengthening polish that works farrr better than any other brand i've used. my nails haven't broken or shed since.

Wish I could make my nails cute but as soon as I try to grow them they just break and when I used to paint them regularly they got flakey. Idk why because I’m fairly healthy

Also for some reason most colours bring out the redness of my hands which I hate. Any advice for me girls ;-;

Me! They get really long and somehow they don't break. I cut them recently after 3 months and they were a solid centimetre past my fingertips, maybe a bit more. Basically like picrel but I shape them oval, not squoval. Unfortunately it gets to a point where I can hardly hold a pen or play piano so I can never keep them for too long.

Yes! I can speak from someone who has weak, thin peeling prone nails who has been able to grow them to this >>13780 length and they are the healthiest they have ever been, though I’ve never been a nail biter so I can’t speak on that.
I use rimmels nail strengthener & sally handsons maximum growth base coat. I was not blessed with strong nails so nail strengtheners are god sent to me. I ALWAYS have my nails painted, if I make the mistake of leaving my nails bare they would simply break the next time I have to use my hands.
Cuticle oil is important because it makes your nails flexible so they are able to bend without snapping off, I apply it daily.
I use a glass nail file since they are supposed to be more gentle on your natural nails. I file them fortnightly or whenever I have a small rip/snag in my nail. only file in one direction don’t go back and forth. When your nails are wet they are at their weakest, so after a shower or washing dishes it’s important to be aware of your hands. My last tip is to have patience, you can’t make your nails grow faster you can only avoid breaking your current growth. :)

Do nail strengteners really work for any of you? Like they do work, they make my nails harder, but instead of tearing like paper, they become so hard and inflexible that my nails start breaking like crisps instead, if that makes sense?

a year late but I use castor oil (or any thick oil) on my nails, and use the warmth of my thumb to rub it in. maybe your nails are too dry?

try moisturizing your nails & cuticles, not using nail polish remover, wearing gloves when washing dishes or cleaning and cover your nails with clear polish to prevent cracking
