Best movie of the year. The moral of the film is basically, "If you are one of those angsty incels who idolized Joker in the original, you are a psychotic retard. Here is your hero getting gangraped." Few movies have the guts to say something so bold.

Also, that screenshot isn't even in the film. The marketing was very deceptive, basically tricking audiences into seeing the movie before shitting all over them. 5 stars, more movies should be this challenging.

Edward Norton still gets to be cool in that movie. He gets to stomp on people and stuff. Joker, in the first movie, also gets to show off. Sure, he suffers a lot of humiliation, but he gets to commit cathartic violence in the end. Joker 2 gives the audience NOTHING. It's just humiliation after humiliation. No quarter, no respite. It's cruel, like a Gaspar Noe movie.

Starship Troopers was called the most expensive arthouse film ever made, but I think this takes that title. It's insane that WB burnt so much money on this, but I'm glad that they did.

The first Joker movie is passable but because it steals from Scorcesse, the second one is pure shit because it doesn't deliver on any angle. They didn't even go all the way into the whole Arthur hate thing which could had been hilarious even if done horribly. The Joker 2 is just literally a nothing-burger of a recording that doesn't please anyone.

I really liked the first joker. I also liked what I've seen of the Harley Quinn show. I didn't think the first movie needed a sequel, it was a complete story with an ambiguous ending that immediately has to be confirmed one way or another in a sequel. I don't have the money or anyone to see a movie with, so I haven't gone, but my sister went and she said it was garbage. Though I was mad that they made a sequel at all, I was still holding out hope that maybe it would be good, so I'm kind of sad it isn't

Plan 9 From Outer Space and House of 1000 Corpses evoke very different emotions but are essentially equally meritous artistically and intellectually. There is a sense in which both are scifi-horror movies but Rob Zombie was trying to make a boring, grounded take on European extreme horror whereas Ed Wood was trying to make typical American spectacle without putting in the effort or money required.

House of 1000 Corpses and Martyrs evoke mostly similar emotions on watch but are on very different levels.

I don't normally stick up for scrotes but the rape scene in the movie felt very reminiscent and similar to how female rape gets thrown into movies just for edgy and shocking purposes like HAHA LOOK THIS CHARACTER GOT RAPED.I mean I won't go into it too much but I was 13 when joker came out and I was very attached to the character and the movie because I had never seen something that represented me and my mental illness so well like that so no matter how cringe the fanbase, it still holds a special place in my heart. IMHO no, it's a very normal take along the lines of saying "I think Star Wars A New Hope was a fun hero's journey and Princess Leia was refreshing as a princess with some vinegar in her." Just like SW there's a lot to criticize about it and a lot of defenses against those criticisms. This movie's more like the SW prequels, right down to turning a lot of the people who loved Lucas/Phillips against them. Including some of the few academics who understood film on an advanced enough level to understand the Eisenstein technique references/homages in The Phantom Menace as direct inversions of the borrowing some of Leni Riefenstahl's film techniques in A New Hope (I was not one of those people I was a child why would anyone expect anyone to read at that level in a movie for children damn).

I'm gonna be honest nona, I also felt very represented by the first movie due to the fact I was raised in an abusive, dysfunctional household and had to become a caretaker of a disabled relative (a sibling) way too young. I felt like the world was torturing me and doing everything in it's power to make me go insane.
Movies like The Joker make me feel relieved knowing I still choose to be kind and loving even though I feel a part of me has been broken, and only now put back together and healing, although with scars. Don't ever feel guilty about liking something as long as it's not causing other people harm. Art is meant to comfort the disturbed, and disturb the comfortable.
I myself don't like the plot of the second Joker movie, it just seems like a useless overkill and destruction of the previous movie's idea just to make chuds in Twitter mad.
I wish that the consequences of the Joker's effect on society got explained, I wish we could've seen Harley genuinely becoming obsessed with Arthur and the Joker, but in the end she ends up ditching him. The real Harley Quinn was OBSESSED with the Joker. This one's just a bored socialite toying with a sad, pathetic criminal. It's just cringy and there's no good message behind all of this.
