Breaking Bad sucks and I hate it. Why does everyone else like it?

Because Bryan Cranston managed to bridge the gap between high strung sitcom dad and cool high function reputation-defending psychopath. Also the plot escalation generally made sense, and some women appreciated the homosexual undertones to the inter-male relationships even though the show did an absolutely terrible job with each and every one of its female characters.

>>35985I 100% agree with you OP. When my husband got into it he hyped like it was one of the most genius shows ever and it was so annoying. I tried to watch a couple episodes and it was terribly boring with annoying characters and generally just a trash plot. Just why are we trying to glorify drugs and awful people? Also I basically can't get into anything that's not scifi or fantasy so there's that.

I watched it blind for the first time this year and I actually really liked it. It was certainly flawed, but I liked watching Walter turn into the shitbag he was and the fact that while he thought he was the smartest guy ever, he was actually blowing things up in his own face every time. At the end of it he ruined his relationship with his family which was his biggest motivator. It started seemingly noble but eventually his true colours came out and he had a massive ego about "providing" for the family beyond all sense and even wanting his son to love him more than the mom but in the end all he got was his wife and son both hating his guts with his son even defending his mom from Walter. All his best laid plans for ruined, all he ever did was manipulate Jesse, even his final words were an attempt to do so because he was a coward and Jesse's story ended with him breaking away from Walter and standing up for himself not being duped in those final pathetic moments of Walters life.
I didn't find the show really glorified him, it was a show from the point of view of Walter as the narrator but at every turn he was his own downfall and was the bad guy. He very quickly stopped being any sort of rootable main character and is instead a mad bastard not realizing he is the villain in everyone else's story around him which I enjoyed watching. Villains don't see themselves as villains and that's how I saw Walter's story. It was very satisfying watching his demise and found it fitting for him, all alone and now a meaningless entity. Cops walking over his body because he's not even important enough to immediately identify after finally realizing he'd lost his family and Jesse too

He put himself and his ego before his own son, that's a pathetic father. If you couldn't see that I'm amazed at your media literacy considering the final seasons slammmmed it over the viewers heads that they had the cash so he could spend the rest of his living life with his son but he wanted to be drug kingpin for a day (and when he was that he failed catastrophically), working under Gus is fine actually and his own paranoia is what ruined that relationship and killing Gus was one of the stupidest things he did, and that just later seasons and his big mistakes.
But if you think money is all that makes a father and not being a parent then no wonder you're coping on at least having a dad and fantasizing about internet strangers not having one at all

First 2 seasons are alright but it becomes very stupid after that. Jesse and his friends are my favorute characters because even almost 20 years later, people like that in the southwest still exist everywhere. IMO Gus and Mike are the 2 weakest characters. Gus is portrayed as some unbelievably calculated individual but has to use violence to get everything he wants and Mike is just silly. Doing James Bond shit and beating up guys double his weight and half his age.

The worst part of Breaking Bad was the wives, Skylar and Marie, and Marie stealing shit from the shops that got dropped because nobody wanted to see this stupid bitch and Skylar smoking while pregnant and being a bitch in general
