I am not concerned by this issue. The payment processor purge doesn't affect me either.
Thing is, paying for games, or anything digital is purely optional.
I don't even know how to buy a game, last time I tried it took me an entire hour to create a Steam account because it keep requiring things like info that I don't want them to have or emails that I have to create.
It's easier to just take what you want.

There is only one reason why payment processors are the only way to pay for games: they are convenient.
They are not convenient anymore.

We will have a period of chaos that won't last forever and it will stabilize in a way that won't have payment processors as the only mean to pay. This will be enough to ensure that they don't try anything like that ever again.

Any games that people want to play multiplayer indefinitely are going to be "legacy" titles, because new titles are all live-service by design (competitive matchmaking, mainstream audience, etc.). They'll also obviously prevent anyone new from buying the game to encourage people to move to newer titles (which is what already happens on places like Steam, where you're already able to download games even after they are killed). These kinds of laws would also likely obstruct developers in the grey-area wherever they decide to draw the line between a major game update and a new title, and publishers will abuse wherever this is defined.

Honestly I just want to own my games and have the right to redownload them even if I lost access to platform or whatever. Good thing is I can already enforce that myself.

I still play (unfortunately) but not on private servers. I was amazed to see how this idiot rich kid who thinks he's a Dev still has people supporting him. These poor guys must have had no father figure.
