>>37425Hmmm. I feel like this is one of the core flaws of the pokemon franchises. In say an mmo you can reskin content easily, if you need some prises for your new region you can just reskin a bunch of old content, you can even reskin a whole area and pull it off.
Its really hard to design a good pokemon, I've tried. And the designers just never added a good way to get away with "reskinning" in pokemon well. Alolan forms sucked, gigantomax sucked, mega evolutions sucked. I would've actually liked alolan forms if they totally commited and gave them wholly new names as if they were new creatures, a bit like the pansage/pansear/panpour set but "cross generational". And these paradox forms are really bad as reskins… The colours are almost identical but they radically changed the actual shapes/design, why didn't they change the colours too?
The thing about reskins which makes them good is "it's the mossy forest region but purple with a poison theme" or "it's the beautiful princess dress but green with emeralds", you've got to add some kind of new theme or colour to get it to work, the ice vulpin alolan form works, at least design wise because it's a straight forward reskin, but the new ice theme allows them to play with the shape design a little so the design feels like it could be a new pokemon (I really wish they just gave these proper names and made them regular pokemon)
Also the paradox forms show another problem with pokemons ever scrapped reskinning gimmicks… why don't they do the full set? If you want to reskin Donphan, reskin Phanphy too.
