I love birds Anonymous 37912
Especially budgies and other tiny parrots. Anybody have any bird pictures or videos they want to share?
Anonymous 37916
My best friend in middle school had a budgie and since then I've had a soft spot for them.

>>37912I really want some doves or budgies but I'm afraid to keep birds because I have cats. I would want my birds to have outside access all the time.. maybe have their own room ? Not with cats

>>37917You could make an outdoor aviary if you have the space! Or if you have a sunroom you don't use you could repurpose that.
Whether or not you can keep them at the same time depends on your cat. I babysat a cat that didn't act on their hunting instinct. Really didn't care about the bird at all.

I love birds but I'd never keep a bird, keeping a bird in a cage seems like the most inhuman thing to me
Anonymous 37921
>>37920You're absolutely right if you keep them in there 24/7 and its a small cage for the species you're keeping.
That being said, provided you DO open the cage and have them be free to roam your home, it isn't any more inhumane than keeping a housecat. At least with tiny species like budgies, parrotlets, canaries imo.
I still think confining something big like a cockatoo isn't very nice but as long as they're well cared for, it's none of my business.

i believe most bird ownership is animal abuse. if you can’t afford a large outdoor aviary, it’s abuse. i hate how trendy dove ownership has become. your coquette aesthetic dove belongs in a flock.

>>38304i agree. my ex had two he abandoned while he was in the military and they were in this horrible tiny enclosure in his living room and i was like are they there are the time? and he said no he lets them out just not around the dogs. there were three dogs and if they were put away they were being abused themselves during that time so… it just made me sick. i think the birds had a baby that died too because white trash people always think they should breed animals.

i hate pigeons as much as roaches and rats
Anonymous 38331
>>38330Wtf why, are they in your walls or something?
Anonymous 38336
>>38331why would you ask that lol
it did happen to me during my last student year, a pigeon got into the attic and found the hood vent, got stuck and kept flapping its wings every 2 hours until it died
it was the final week before my orals so i put off calling the landlor until i was done with uni

>>37922Me too ughghhh
Thankfully I get an army of mourning doves daily at the bird feeder, every time I get to see them I get excited
Anonymous 38343
>>38330Wth rats and doves are the best
What is the psychology behind this, I've never understood it
Anonymous 38345
>>38336>>38343Yeah pigeons seem so inoffensive I had to ask if you had personal beef with one

>>38343>>38345my hate is predates that story
it's just that they always hang around trash and soil any place they settle into
once i was going out to work and this fucking pigeon was hanging in this disgusting murky puddle and waited until i was near it to take flight and sprinkle me with that shit, forcing me to take a shower and be late for work the disgusting rat
fuck them

Birds are my life.
- I've been birdwatching since I was like 3
- I've always had parrots instead of dogs and cats
- I've always preferred parrots over dogs as cats or any other animal really
- I can name probably 80% of bird species/breeds/color morphs upon first glance
I hope my bird credentials are worth it. I'm partial to lovebirds because I've owned two of them, and both got me through some of the roughest times of my life. They're sassy but they're the best.
I've been really interested in Seriamas lately.

Imagine if moids did 10% of what birds do
Anonymous 38368
>>38367they do at first. only at first though.

I'm very fond of how they look so awkward and googly eyed with a big beak in the middle. No animal compares.
