I'm playing mewgenics. It's nice. I'm getting btfo'd in the desert as we speak.

The bait this thread attracts is disturbing

I can't post this on 4chud for now, so I'll post this here, I wish there was an NPC you could donate items to, just like cats.

>>38645Been playing it a bunch recently but kind of ragequit the last time. Got to dybbuk then got him down to 1HP but died from exhaustion I guess? He was dodging most of my attacks no wonder it took too many turns and after he got 1HP I could just not hit him at all for whatever reason. What a ridiculous boss. I had no problem with the rest of the game until now. Well if it's even possible to defeat this guy then maybe I will pick it back up later.

>>38718What was your team? There's a few ways you can deal with Dybbuk. Aoe abilities, tank's basic attack, trapping him (summons help), ranger's tower defense ability, just straight up starting a fire. He forces you to think on your feet.
One time I was doing a "Persuasion Device" side quest, added a ghost to my team, then it doomed Dybbuk and he just straight up died kek. Without even possessing any of the cats.

Been trying to run this PIECE OF SHIT on Mac today.
Funny thing about Mac’s is that they can barely emulate anything. Steam doesn’t work through wine(although it did just a few months ago), even if you manage to download the exe it complains about not being run from steam, etc etc.
Basically the best solution is to just use a pirated version. It’s fucking ridiculous you can barely run anything on a Mac problem-free despite??? Apple being worth like a grilling dollars??? It’s like the early days of Linux in here.

Btw I got it working. Feels exciting just like that one time I installed homebrew on my 2ds. I kinda enjoyed trying to get it to run…
It also explains why crossover has such an expensive price tag. Like theres a guy unironically doing wine configs for a living or something.

I enabled msync and reduced render scale to 70%, now the gameplay part seems almost lag free, even if it’s really ugly.
The problem is, this game can only use OpenGL. Apple deprecated OpenGL in favor of something called metal.
Apparently metal angle (a separate translation layer) is supposed to fix that, but it doesn’t work very well yet…

Oh yeah I totally forgot what I was doing today.
I ended up staying all night trying to figure if there’s any other way to improve the performance of the game. One idea I’ve been thinking for months now is: is it possible to mod out visual effects, specifically shaders? Even on my windows pc I had to deal with stuttering because of those god beams.
Turns out, yeah, it’s possible. It actually helped with performance a lot, like I didn’t even have to reduce render size. Maybe I should try making a mod, never done that before…
Learned a lot about shaders too. A shader is any code that a gpu runs. But in our case the shaders have to be run by the cpu because we’re emulating OpenGL. CPUs are bad at doing huge amounts of calculations unlike gpus, so removing shader helps.
Modding sounds kinda fun potentially tbh I was always scared of it because how intimidating gba modding seemed.

I keep thinking about this post.

THIS makes me mad for a silly reason.
https://x.com/GreenGuillotina/status/2046750880968421483Like “hey, I already had an idea for some chapters, don’t you dare to make a good one before me”
I am competitive over nothing but at least this motivates me real good to actually finish stuff

I was literally unable to tell there is like 20 flying circles on the title screen until I removed gradient. It was all so subtle it looked like a solid color. I don’t know what is the point of those.
Theoretically maybe they could be taken out of swf, but that’s a problem for future me.
