Anyone else follow this pattern here? Anonymous 1578

People were talking about strange coincidences between kids who were in gifted/TAG/GATE classes in school. Anybody else have similar circumstance?
>Blue eyes (hazel seems equally common)
>Occipital Bun (aka math bump on the the back of the skull = Neanderthal trait)
>Birth Complications (like weeks early or not breathing)
>Near Death Experiences (especially drowning)
>lack of memory of TAG (we all did many many hours there, and it's very vague)
>windows covered in TAG classrooms
>tendency to be followed, especially by creeps
>Law enforcement being very lenient
>IQ's are often as high as 130; 100. Many IQ's even higher.
Other similarities, less common but still common enough to mention
>interest in /x/ phenomena
>heavy early twenties drug experimentation period
>forehead scars
>early speech therapy
>first born
>bad childhood, or history of severe mistreatment
>migraines
>premonitions/prophetic dreams
>above average intuition

What is TAG? What is GATE?

Anonymous 1595

>>1578
I was in TAG. My mom tells me I have hazel eyes, but they always look green to me when I look in the mirror. Almost everything else you listed describes me, too.
>>1580
In my case, it stood for Talented and Gifted. I think it was a step above honors classes.

Anonymous 1609

I was in gifted classes in school:
>Hazel eyes
>Emergency C-Section birth
>Almost died from choking when a toddler
>School feels like a past life, hard to remember anything besides impressionistic feelings
>Been let off the hook for speeding twice
>Haven't taken an IQ test, but got a 32 on the ACT (97th percentile)
>Very interested in /x/
>Did a lot of drugs in early to mid 20's
>Scar next to my eye
>Had speech therapy in grade school for stuttering
>First born
>Rare prophetic dreams
>Above average intuition, MBTI type INFJ whose primary function is introverted intuition

Anonymous 1611

>>1578
I have been "gifted" my entire life and none of those things apply to me, nor other people who were in the same classes as me.

People get told they're special in primary school and think that it's actually true. Kids develop at different rates, doesn't mean that they will continue on that trajectory their entire lives.

Every self identified "ex gifted" person I've met is extraordinarily mediocre.

Anonymous 1614

this is interesting and I relate to a lot of the things listed, but how did you compile this list?

Anonymous 1627

>>1611
I don't know if I got naturally dumber over time or if I just liquefied my brain with vodka.

Anonymous 1630

>>1627
I was an alcoholic for a few years and still was very high-performing.

Anonymous 1634

>GATE conspiracies

The worst and dumbest conspiracy by and for the worst and dumbest of failsons. Leave it on 4chan where it belongs.

Anonymous 1645

>>1578
Let's see how I stack up:
>Blue eyes
>Occipital Bun? (honestly have no idea if I do)
>Birth Complications (I was a very difficult birth for my mother but nothing lasting)
>No Near Death Experiences
>lack of memory of it
>windows covered in classrooms (most of mine were in rooms without big windows)
>tendency to be followed, especially by creeps
>Law enforcement being very lenient
>IQ's are often as high as 130 (122 according to psychologist back when I was a teen)
>interest in /x/ phenomena
>some drug experimentation, but not much
>no forehead scars
>early speech therapy (TONS)
>first born
>not really a bad childhood, more just neglect
>migraines
>yes premonitions (more like “feelings”), no prophetic dreams (I don’t dream)
>above average intuition (INFJ stuff)
For some context. I was in the “pullout” since first grade (I remember doing a lot of logic puzzles and stuff I found somewhat easy and fun) and in a separate class third through eighth grade. Additionally, I was considered “borderline” for placement into the program as revealed to me in third grade (my mom told me the reason was I had high enough test scores but no one score that was exceptionally high. Absolutely no memory of this testing btw.)

Anonymous 1646

Not white, brown eyes.
>lack of memory of TAG
My whole childhood is a blur
>Law enforcement being very lenient
I've only had one run in with police and it was a ticket for making a U turn at a no U turn sign. He wasn't mean about it, it was my fault, but a ticket is still a ticket.
>first born
Only child
>migraines
Stopped having them around 18
>above average intuition
Maybe? I get intuition thoughts all the time, but I never really confirm if they're true.
Nothing else applies.

There aren't really any "gifted classes" in schools in my country but we do have a CTY, which I went to.
>Hazel eyes
>Occipital Bun (I have no idea)
>Birth Complications (nope I was right on time)
>Near Death Experiences (only with alcohol in my teens so idk if that counts)
>Lack of memory (of all my childhood, I only remember specific bad memories that usually involved social rejection or humiliation)
>Tendency to be followed, especially by creeps (occasional creeps but I wouldn't call it a tendency, just being female. I never go out though)
>Law enforcement being very lenient
>IQ's are often as high as 130; 100. Many IQ's even higher (don't know my IQ or remember my exact SCAT score but to get into CTY you needed to score above the SCAT 95th percentile for either maths or english, I went beyond it for english and just scraped maths)
>Interest in /x/ phenomena (obviously)
>Heavy early twenties drug experimentation period
>Forehead scars (only from acne/pox, which everyone has so I'm guessing this is asking for interesting slashes? idk but I have none of those)
>First born
>No premonitions/prophetic dreams (I get weird symbolic dreams though that focus on specific images like a dying seagull laying on the ground with its wings and beak torn off and laying next to it, crying like a person. Or just randomly cutting mid dream to the house in the tornado from the wizard of oz while piano music that sounded like it was played by broken fingers plays in the background)
>Above average intuition (I don't think so but then again I've never actually trusted it)
I don't know how accurate this can be since a lot of (non-gifted) people can either check off many items on the list (like birth complications) or convince themselves they apply (for example it seems every single person I talk to toadally doesn't remember their childhood at all!!!!)

Anonymous 3229

Are you low-key implying that only white kids were in gifted classes? I was in GATE and the only ones that apply are birth complications, bad childhood, and drug experimentation. None of this shit is unique to kids considered gifted.

Anonymous 3230

>>1578
>IQ's are often as high as 130
an IQ of at least 130 is literally the minimum requirement to be in gifted classes

Anonymous 3234

>>1578
I have blue eyes. Nearly drowned falling off my stepdad's boat when I was very little, this would have been shortly before I started GATE.
Don't remember much of anything that happened in there. I remember doing word exercises and projects where we were asked to invent something. I also remember why they started me in GATE, it was because of a story I wrote about time travel that I guess was far above my grade level (1st).
Law enforcement has been lenient with me. I literally brought a weapon to school once and all they did was suspend me for a week. Have only taken online IQ tests but have ended up generally around 125-130.
Big interest in /x/ phenomena, no drugs to speak of. I don't have a forehead scar but I do have like a dent in my forehead. It feels like a crack. You can't see any sign of it from the outside but you can feel it if you touch it. Childhood was full of bullying but my parents were okay, they did raise me in a cult though.
The thing with the bullying is the teachers didn't do anything about it. Looking back on it I have wondered if it was some kind of social experiment. I can't think of any other reason why they would let an innocent kid suffer.

Anonymous 3235

Like >>3230 says I think one of the things you realise as you get older is like, IQ 135 or IQ 140 or whatever, it's above average top 2% or 1% or something but as an advantage that rapidly deteriorates once you get into competitive streams. If you're working as a scientist or analyst or something you aren't competing with the 98% who are less intelligent than you, because they never made it here or even wanted to come in this direction in the first place. You're mostly with peers, and the truly gifted (the top 0.001% or something) are the ones who stand out.

You ARE special in primary school, in that out of a cohort of 30 or 50 kids you might be the smartest. But our whole system is built to stream that so in high school maybe you're one of the 10 smartest, and then in uni because you probably pick a smart person's course you're top 50%, and if you do well and go into the field you're just average.

I was also 'gifted' and my main lingering complaints about that are 1) I was never obligated to work hard 2) I was praised far too much for idle work or ideas without effort. These traits have created a lot of problems for me now, in adult life, when I do have to work hard and am not so easily praised. But that's also just my own laziness and inability to change. Even if I had been socialized perfectly I wouldn't have been anything special lol, I just would have been a somewhat more successful version of myself.

>Blue eyes (hazel seems equally common)
Yes

>Occipital Bun (aka math bump on the the back of the skull = Neanderthal trait)

No

>Birth Complications (like weeks early or not breathing)

No

>Near Death Experiences (especially drowning)

Yes, I had a girl try to drown me when I was 8, it didn't stop until my mom finally pulled her off of me

>lack of memory of TAG (we all did many many hours there, and it's very vague)

What is TAG?

>windows covered in TAG classrooms

Don't know what TAG is

>tendency to be followed, especially by creeps

Definitely

>Law enforcement being very lenient

Fuck no, I'm poor

>IQ's are often as high as 130; 100. Many IQ's even higher.

Got IQ tested by psychiatrist, my IQ is 131

Other similarities, less common but still common enough to mention
>interest in /x/ phenomena
Yes I got into /x/ when I was 15 or so

>heavy early twenties drug experimentation period

Yes definitely

>forehead scars

No

>early speech therapy

No

>first born

Yes
>bad childhood, or history of severe mistreatment
Definitely

>migraines

No

>premonitions/prophetic dreams

Yes but not directly, it's usually something like I dream somebody is a butterfly and then they move, e.g. a month ago I dreamed my dad and sister electrocuted me and then the next day I got into a huge fight with both of them

>above average intuition

Yes bc le personality disorder

Anonymous 3376

>>3230
At my school a kid had an IQ of 109 and was in the gifted program.

Anonymous 3387

>ITT: Barnum effect

Anonymous 3393

>>3387
I know it means nothing, it's just fun to see the similarities

Anonymous 8960

>>1578
How did you manage to get into a gifted class in school with this kind of crap?
>Blue eyes
>Dunno about the bun
>Nope
>Yup. Nearly drowned as a kid. But was already in those classes at the time, IIRC.
>Yeah, but that's not unusual. My whole childhood is like that.
>Nope
>Nope. Been creeped on, because pretty. But not followed.
>Dunno. Never tested it. Not dumb enough to try.
>Dunno
>Yup
>Nope. Did drugs in my 20s. Most 20yos do.
> Nope
>nope
>nope
>not really
>rare
>had one, ever, in my life
>dunno

The vast majority of these are 'nope' or uncertain.

Anonymous 10095

My friend had some creepy experience like this and some sketchy shit going on in there wtf

Anonymous 10097

>>1578
I'm Indian, so a lot of the phenotypic things didn't apply, but I dated other gifted guys in this class who met so many of these stereotypes (weird premies with blue eyes and drug issues who were 4channers with alcoholic parents). I find a lot of these stereotypes never applied to the Indians/Asians in these classes but are definitely true of the white people

Anonymous 10099

>Blue eyes (hazel seems equally common)
Brown, but there's a deep blue ring around the edge of my iris
>Occipital Bun (aka math bump on the the back of the skull = Neanderthal trait)
Yes
>Birth Complications (like weeks early or not breathing)
No
>Near Death Experiences (especially drowning)
Not really, but I've gotten into some dangerous situations before (was nearly shot and stabbed on different occasions)
>lack of memory of TAG (we all did many many hours there, and it's very vague)
I just remember doing weird math and geometry exercises, hearing tests, and something vaguely reminiscent of an IQ test
>windows covered in TAG classrooms
Yes
>tendency to be followed, especially by creeps
No, but I live in a dangerous part of town so I'm always scared of getting followed
>Law enforcement being very lenient
Yeah. One time I got off the hook for a possession-related offence that normally results in jail time because I was a naive teenager. They drove me home, lectured me in front of my parents, and gave me a stern warning.
>IQ's are often as high as 130; 100. Many IQ's even higher.
133 last time I checked
>interest in /x/ phenomena
100%. Metaphysics, gnosticism, Kabbalah, Aristotelian cosmology, Neoplatonism, Buddhism, Hermeticism, chi/vril/etc, the kind of occult stuff Newton/Descartes/Blavatsky wrote about, and about a dozen other topics that I can't remember at the moment.
>heavy early twenties drug experimentation period
Yes, and I genuinely believe it made me better at math. As a teenager, I had trouble understanding calculus, but after spending a few months studying math, philosophy, and history while high on weed and ketamine like some kind of cyberpunk hermit, I somehow became able to do complex PDEs like it's arithmetic. I also fried my ability to regulate my emotions and form relationships, so it wasn't all good in the end.
>forehead scars
There's a really noticeable mark on my face that looks like a knife scar and I don't know when or how it showed up.
>early speech therapy
Yes
>first born
Yes
>bad childhood, or history of severe mistreatment
Very
>migraines
Yes
>premonitions/prophetic dreams
Yes, but I can probably attribute that to the obsessive politics phase I had when I was in high school. Some of my "predictions" ended up being true, and many of them were just nonsense.
>above average intuition
Yes
